You know summer's coming when...

The smell of BBQ's is in the air.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day here, and come 5:00-there was the smell of barbeque and the propane station had a huge line-up.

Due to some unfortunate bullshit, we weren't allowed a BBQ at our last place. Fire risk to our neighbours or something. We had bought one anyways and were able to use it for a little over a year before we got the notice. So we lent it to our friends S&S who had just moved into a place of their own. Needless to say, we've been itching to grill, especially since last weeks shipment of meat.

Home Depot had their annual sale this weekend of $40 off BBQ's or free assembly. My dad decided to give us both our birthday presents early (we're both late summer bdays) and told us to buy one and it'll be our birthday presents. Sweet!

Hubs is a glutton for punishment and wanted to save pops a few bucks, so he opted for the $40 off and he'd assemble it himself. I told him the decision was his since it was clear to both of us who'd be the one assembling it. I can only remember one spring day when my dad and a neighbour spent about 4 hours frustrated trying to assemble one of those bbq's from the 90's. I wanted nothing to do with it.

Anyways, it went well and hubs did it from start to finish in about 40 minutes. Not bad!

I think the process has come a long way since that day my dad put it together, and with Ikea-like instructions like this:

It all came together pretty quick. There were a few times it required a little elbow grease, and at one point hubs realized he put some screws in the wrong spot, so had to backtrack a little bit,

But it all worked out and I don't think it's any surprise what we had for dinner last night:

Ain't she a beaut?
